William Julié, counsel for Carole Ghosn, spoke to Le Figaro Magazine about INTERPOL’s decision to maintain the red notice issued against her in 2020 at the request of Japan.
The notice effectively prevents her from flying to the United States, where she resides, and forces her to remain in Lebanon, a country at war, under threat of provisional arrest and extradition to Japan.
He recalled that the notice was published in INTERPOL’s Information System on the basis of an arrest warrant issued at the request of the Japanese prosecutor, on suspicion of having given false testimony in April 2019 in the investigation concerning her husband, Carlos Ghosn. He insisted on the fact that the statements had in truth been “misused to turn her into a suspected accomplice” by the Japanese authorities.
William Julié denounced the manifestly disproportionate nature of the notice, published and maintained for more than six years, which deprives Carole Ghosn of her freedom of movement although the offenses she is accused of have never been established.
