In the wake of a new hearing on the continued detention of Paul Watson in Denmark, on the basis of an extradition request from Japan, William Julié, a member of his defence team, returns to and stresses the political nature of the proceedings currently ongoing against the environmental activist, which is apparent in particular from the charges and facts brought against him, and the lack of evidence in support of these accusations. William Julié lists the actions currently and in the future being taken by Paul Watson’s defence team to the Special Rapporteur on Environmental Issues, the UN Working Committee on Arbitrary Detention, INTERPOL and the ECHR.
