After former French first Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was charged with witness tampering in her husband Nicolas Sarkozy’s case concerning the Libyan financing of his presidential campaign, Maître Julié provided some legal insight on the situation.
This exchange gave him the opportunity to recall the facts behind the case, as revealed by investigative journalists. There are indeed several cases ongoing against Nicolas Sarkozy, some dating back to 2007, while Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has allegedly only been involved in the witness tampering facts during 2020.
He also clarified the relevant legal framework, as Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been indicted on some charges and placed under the status of “témoin assisté” for others.
