French companies in Russia: a moral or criminal liability?

Amélie BEAUCHEMIN and William JULIÉ review the legal options for holding the French companies liable for maintaining their activities on Russian territory despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite the lack of precedent regarding the liability of a legal entity before an international criminal court, there are certain possibilities. French law could allow for the criminal prosecution of these companies for their complicity in international crimes. It would also be possible to place these companies on the European sanctions lists.
