War in the Middle East: “The ICC has been interested in what’s happening in Palestine for a very long time”, says international criminal lawyer Amélie Beauchemin.

Maître Amélie Beauchemin was invited by France Info TV to comment on the arrest warrants issued on November 21, 2024 by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the head of the armed wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif.

The discussion was an opportunity to reiterate that, while these warrants are highly symbolic, they also serve as a reminder of the obligation of States parties to the Rome Statute, including France, to comply with it and to arrest the persons concerned should they visit their territory, even if they are sitting heads of state.
