Whale of an activist: ‘Entity not complying with international law is not Paul Watson but Japan’

Maître Julié, as part of the legal team defending the interests of Paul Watson, a renowned environmental activist and founder of Sea Shepherd France, commented on the prolongation of his detention by a ruling of the Nuuk District Court on 4 September 2024.

This discussion allowed Maître Julié to clarify the facts of the case and explain the evidence supporting Paul Watson’s innocence. The fabricated evidence provided by Japan highlights the political nature of the case, which dates back 14 years, in the context of the Japanese whaling activities.

There are serious Human Rights concerns if Denmark replies favorably to Japan’s extradition request. To prevent that, the legal team Maître Julié is part of is using every possible legal tool, including Danish law, the European Convention on Human Rights, the Interpol system and the United Nations resources.
