Why is Jean-Luc Mélenchon so ambiguous about using the term “genocide”?

Interviewed by Richard Flurin for Le Figaro, William Julié provided some explanations on the use of the term “genocide”, sometimes used (or not) for political purposes, when it has a clear and precise legal meaning, to be distinguished from other crimes that can be just as serious, among war crimes and/or crimes against humanity, according to the distinctions and definitions laid down in international and French texts.
