William JULIÉ responds to the refusal given by the French investigating chamber the extradition of ten former far-right activists. The ‘Mitterrand doctrine’ now over, the Italian government wishes to repatriate them, and prosecute the terrorist activities committed in the 1970s. The investigating chamber based its decision on the right to privacy and family life, as well as the right to a fair trial, protected in the European Convention on Human Rights. The parties are awaiting a possible appeal against the decision by the Public Prosecutor.
