Suspected war crimes in Ukraine: How can the guilty be brought to justice?

William JULIÉ, Criminal Law and Human Rights lawyer, takes part in Mark OWEN’s show, “The debate”, to discuss the war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine, particularly in Bucha and Borodyanska.

He explains that the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is already investigating on the ground and highlights that several neighboring countries are also investigating crimes committed on Ukrainian territory and coordinate their actions through the Eurojust network. He indicates that to hold Russian officials directly responsible, it will require more incriminating evidence, including evidence on the chain of command and the orders given to soldiers.

William JULIÉ also explains that several elements, including the language used by Russia, may indicate that the rapes that occurred in Ukraine may be part of a concerted plan.
