William Julié gave a brief comment to the Financial Times regarding the decisions of the General Court of the CJEU annuling the sanctions adopted against Mr Fridman and Mr Aven between February 2022 and March 2023.
He explained that these decisions will certainly have repercussions in other cases regarding the threshold needed to demonstrate a form of support or benefit sufficient for the adoption of sanctions : “The fact that you would be friends, or you would know people who are friends with Putin, is not enough to demonstrate you are benefiting from the regime”.
